This month, the interior department took a huge leap forward in meeting California’s clean energy goals. On May 3rd, 2021, the Bureau of Land Management approved the Crimson Solar Project. The Crimson Solar Project at a Glance
- The project represents a $550 million investment.
- It will be owned by Sonoran West Solar Holdings, LLC.
- Plans include constructing a 350 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic facility, along with a 350 MW energy storage system.
- The facilities will occupy approximately 2,000 acres of BLM-managed lands in Riverside County.
- Power will route through the Southern California Edison Colorado River Substation.
- The energy generated will power up to 87,500 homes.
